Life Lately 11: Another Travel Hiatus

July 28, 2017

Hey there! It’s been a month since I last blogged. Here are the following things you may need to know as to why I haven’t been blogging lately:

  1. I just arrived Manila! From June-July, I had my vacation in the USA. Specifically New York, New Hampshire, Chicago, Michigan and Washington D.C.
  2. The main reason why I was able to have my vacation there was all for my grandma. It’s her first time to officially travel outside of the country. We wanted her to enjoy and visit some of her relatives.
  3. I would LOVE to go back to New York. We only stayed for a week and it is still not enough. There are other museums and restaurants I would love to try when I get the chance to go back.
  4. It was our first time to go to Washington D.C. What I felt in New York is how I also felt for Washington D.C. There are other museums I have yet to check out.
  5. This trip, I would have to say, was very tiring. We went to a lot of different states through land and plane. But that’s what makes this adventure very interesting. You are always on the move and waiting for something amazing to happen.

How has your life been lately? Please do share!

One Weekend in San Juan, La Union

April 27, 2017

It’s a nice feeling to get lost in thought while appreciating the wonderful view by the beach. You can hear the loud waves crash by the shore. You get to see the beautiful sunrise/sunset by the beach.  That is what we exactly did last weekend, April 1-2 in San Juan, La Union.

San Juan, La Union is known as one of the surfing spots of the Philippines. This is where surfers go to if they want to surf and have a quick getaway. If you are not fond of surfing, you can laze around, walk by the beach and watch other people surf.

It was my first time to go to San Juan, La Union with my college best friend and her boyfriend. We decided to go to La Union (despite the long travel) because we wanted to explore the North and a change of scenery. We left Manila around 11pm via Partas.

Around 4 in the morning, we arrived San Juan, La Union. We had a lot of time to wander around since our check-in time in Barkadahan is around 12pm. We decided to chill by Flotsam and Jetsam and talk about life. We were able to watch the beautiful stars and sunrise by the beach.

Around 8am, we had a quick breakfast in Flotsam and Jetsam. After, we decided to go to back to our hotel and have another set of breakfast. We enjoyed our 2nd breakfast because we ordered corn beef which is our favorite breakfast dish!

To pass time, we decided to try out different restaurants along San Juan, La Union. The first restaurant we went to was El Union. Let the photos do the talking of the restaurant.

Next, we tried out Tagpuan since my friend told me that they serve bagnet (I highly recommend you watch I’m Drunk, I Love You if you want to know about the hype of bagnet). Their bagnet was yummy! But I found it expensive for its food serving.

Around 2pm, we were able to put our things in the room and dressed up for the beach. Good thing it wasn’t that hot when we went to the beach around 4pm. We took a few pictures (for me and my best friend’s blog) and enjoyed the beautiful sunset by the beach.

Around 7pm, we had dinner in Surf Shack. Surf Shack was just alright. I found the restaurant quite expensive and since there were a lot of people, the staffs were all over the place. It was hard for us to call a staff and we kept on reminding them about our orders. After our dinner, we decided to go back to the hotel and we had a good rest.

The next day, April 2, we woke up around 6am and prepared for another day ahead of us. We went back to the beach because my best friend still had one more swimsuit to wear and have photos with it. In the process of her photoshoot, my shorts got wet! I wanted to have a picture with her by the beach and the waves were too strong. But it was all good because I had extra shorts.

After her photoshoot, we had a quick lunch in Olas Banditos. The price of their food was just right. The ambiance was laidback and suited with the theme of the restaurant. I am for sure going back to this restaurant!

After lunch, we bade goodbye to San Juan, La Union. It was a bittersweet and quick getaway. For sure, we are going back and we will be more ready since we will know what to expect.

P.S. This is leaning more on a personal travel post. I actually miss writing these kinds of posts for the blog.

Life Lately 10: Finding Motivation

March 7, 2017

Usually, I write these Life Lately posts because I don’t get to post any new content. This session of my Life Lately post is more on finding my motivation to keep on going. I also feel like I haven’t been myself these past few days. I always have this routine: wake up, take a shower, get ready for work, attend work, go home, go to the gym and/or continue watching missed series and go to sleep. But as I lay down, I feel like the world is eating me up alive. I tend to feel the pressure on my chest.

In order to motivate myself again, these were the things I did in order to get out of that funk:

  1. Last Saturday, I attended a HipHop dance class. I’m actually glad that I went back to dancing. Dancing has always been my passion and my 1st I can’t imagine myself without dance. For sure I’ll go berserk.
  2. A few days ago, I was able to talk to my college best friend. I told her that the feeling of loneliness crept towards me and I’m tired of being strong all the time. It came to the point that I even told her that I just want to break down my walls. She totally knows how strong of a person I am. But, she reminded me that sometimes I would need a time off from myself. Time off from reality and the people that tries to bring me down. Due to what she said, from the longest time, I broke down. She made me realize that it’s okay to break down. It doesn’t mean you are weak. It just shows how strong you have been towards your whole life. It also shows that we don’t have to be perfect because that’s what makes us human.
  3. Due to this talk with my college best friend, I decided to have my alone time by going to a coffee shop near home. I had a chill session in the coffee shop by watching a movie with a good iced coffee on hand.
  4. I had the opportunity to lie down on my bed and savor the moment. It felt comfortable and I wasn’t pressured to do anything that day.
  5. Last Sunday, I was able to watch an indie film called Baka Bukas. I watched this movie on my own. Little by little, I felt like I was getting out of the funk.

I know I still want to do a lot of things like travelling solo, to have my own business, etc. But I must take it step by step because I don’t want to pressure myself from doing all these things in a short amount of time. Also do know that despite everything I’m feeling right now, I am still open to listen about your problems. That is the kind of person I am. Always ready to lend a helping hand no matter what the situation is.

How have you been lately?

My 2016 Journey

January 9, 2017

The year 2016 was not a good one for me. I lost a few friends and some relatives have passed away. I also know that 2016 was not a good year for the whole world. There was a lot of killings being shown in the news and Trump winning the presidency. As of now, I do not want to elaborate these happenings because it’s a start of a new year.

What I love about 2016 was that I was able to travel. I went to Boracay for the Labor Day, Cebu for Sinulog Festival, Buscalan Village in Kalinga to visit Apo Whang Od and the main event,  Europe (London, Iceland and Norway). These travels made up the bad experiences. I felt free like a bird. I felt I knew myself more in this whole journey. Listed below are my 2016 journey:

January – Cebu : Sinulog Festival

February – rest day

March – Les Miserables LIVE in Manila

April – Paradise IMF

May – Boracay : Labor Day

June – Kalinga : Visit Apo Whang Od in Buscalan Village

July – Cambodia

August – September : Rest Day

October – November : EUROPE TRIP

December – New Year Celebration in Iloilo

I do believe that 2017 will be my year. I will do everything I can to gain more adventures and find these things that truly makes me happy.

What can you say about your 2016?

Life Lately 9 : Travel Hiatus

November 8, 2016

Hey there!

It’s been a long time since I last blogged! To be exact – a month since my last update. Here are the following life lately hacks:

  1. I am finally back in Manila! The main reason why I wasn’t able to update my blog was due to a travel hiatus. My family and I had our first Europe Trip! It was exhausting yet fulfilling. I learned a lot in our first Europe trip and I can’t wait to share to you all 🙂
  2. There were some dishes in Europe that I didn’t enjoy and there were a few that I enjoyed. In Bergen, I enjoyed eating in this seafood restaurant called Fjellskal. They served good salmon which is my favorite! The way they cooked their food reached my expectations. In London, I enjoyed eating their famous Fish and Chips in Borough Market!
  3. What I love about Europe is that there are a lot of attractions worthy to see. With their attractions, they make sure to keep it in good condition for the future generation to appreciate the history behind their attractions.
  4. I love riding their public transportation! It’s safe and comfortable. You won’t get lost because there are lots of European citizens who will surely help you out. If I were given the chance to work and live in Europe, I would grab the opportunity.
  5. Since I was in Europe during my birthday, the best gift I have ever received would have to be the Northern Lights in Iceland. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on our first day. God truly works miracles. We should never take these things for granted.

My Personal Wishlist

September 24, 2016

Birthdays and holidays play a special role in my life. This is the time where we get to celebrate and be with our loved ones. To make these events special, I decided to write My Personal Wishlist. This wishlist is to remind myself that having a wish does not necessarily need to be materialistic. It can also be for future life purposes. So without further ado, I present to you my personal wishlist:

My Personal Wishlist

1. Canon G7X – Since I travel a lot, I need a camera that is lightweight, has great picture and video quality. I got interested with this product since a lot of bloggers and vloggers get to use this camera. This, for sure, will be a steal!

2. Unlimited Travel Ticket – As you can see in my blog, majority of my posts are focused on travel. It would be a dream come true of mine if I get the chance to go to different countries with hard work and dedication.

3. To inspire other people through this blog – Ever since I started blogging, I can’t seem to stop. Blogging about my adventures makes me happy because I get to share to other people my experiences. I want other people to know that you don’t need to be rich in order to travel. You just need to have the guts to travel and create your own adventure.

4. A puppy – Ever since I was young, I have always wanted a puppy. As an only child, there are times I feel lonely because I have no one to interact with. Having a puppy at home will surely lift my spirit and I can just talk to him/her because I truly believe that dogs have feelings as well.

5. To have my own business – Aside from the family business, I want to be able to prove to other people that I can have my own business and make it grow. I know it’s a big responsibility but I am willing to take the risk.

6. New Macbook Pro – My current Macbook Pro has been with me for 6-7 years already. Although it still works fine, there are times that my laptop lags and battery drains fast. Also, I tend to leave it at home since it’s too heavy. With a new macbook pro, I know I will be able to bring it with me wherever I go so that I can work on my blog posts properly.

7. Peace on Earth – With everything that’s been happening, I pray that everyone can fix their differences and shake hands. That is what the Philippines need.

An Open Letter to My Ex- Best Friend

September 24, 2016

Hey there,

For as long as I can remember, I considered you as one of my best friends. Our adventures together were the best ones that I will never forget. We even had plans to go to other places in the Philippines and make an indie video. But I guess that’s not happening. Issues were starting to pile up in our barkada and I still made sure to stay by your side because I know how it feels to be abandoned by “close friends”. I was trying to bring peace not just for our friendship but for the barkada as well.

Unfortunately, everything changed. You told me you were tired. If you are tired, then I am dead.I felt embarrassed for you because in this friendship we had, I was the one who did the majority to make our friendship strong. I made sure to bring you home safe and sound. I made sure that you get to have free passes for any concerts we go to. I made sure you were always included in my plans. I even tried to make our barkada closer again. I never expected anything in return. I guess my feelings don’t matter to you.

Others say that best friend breakups are worse than couple breakups. I’ve never been in a relationship so I don’t know if this is true. But I guess it’s true because in every situation we went through, we turned out to be strong. What ever you heard from other people pertaining to what I said, I won’t withdraw from it. People know how concerned I am towards you. Even the Lord knows. In this kind of situation, my pride radar goes on. But, I brought my pride down because I still believe everything is still worth fixing.

I know it’s partly my fault that I wasn’t able to tell you my feelings sooner. But I do hope you get to grasp everything that I said. I actually don’t care if you think or other people think that I was being “plastic” towards you. If you get to read this message, I don’t expect a reply from you as well.

I just want to say Thank You – for all the friendship and adventures we had together. Thank you for listening to my rants and trying to make sure that I was okay. Thank you for all the spontaneous hang outs we used to do. I will really miss those moments. When you also told me to push through with my travel blog because you believed in me, thank you. I am Sorry – for everything that has happened lately. Last but not the least, advanced Goodbye – just in case you truly decide that our friendship is not worth saving after all.

I wish you all the best and may you create new memories with your new set of friends.

How To Really Know Someone Part 4

September 9, 2016

31. Who are the people who have influenced you?

My parents play a big role when it comes to influence. I look up to them because I know how successful they are. That is also my wish – to be as successful as them and to continue their legacy.

32. Which of the four cardinal virtues do you embody the most?

I think I embody justice. I’m the type of person who would promote equality to all.

33. What are some things you like about your sibling?

To tell you honestly, I don’t have any siblings. Buuut, I do consider my cousins as my siblings. I love the fact that even though I don’t get to see them always, there is still a close bond between us. We are able to share anything and everything under the sun. If one of us is feeling down, we always make sure to set a schedule where we can meet and catch up and help one another.

34. Would you save an extremely talented musician who has the influence to promote good values for the world or a pregnant woman in a situation where it is certain you must choose one over the other?

I would choose the pregnant woman because not only will I be able to save two lives, this will give the woman the chance to start fresh with her unborn baby and she will have the chance to do everything she can to make her baby’s life worthwhile.

35. If you could choose the sex and physical appearance of your soon-to-be-born child, would you do it?

Honestly, yes HAHAHAHAHA. I would love it if my oldest child would be a boy then he will be able to protect his younger siblings.

36. What would it take someone to make you feel really fulfilled?

I tried to understand this question but my brain just can’t function =))

37. Do you daydream a lot? What do you daydream about?

I love to daydream but of course, I do it discreetly. I wouldn’t want other people to be calling my attention when I daydream. LELZ.

38. If you were at a friend’s house for Thanksgiving dinner and you found a dead cockroach in the salad, what would you do?

I will politely tell my friend that I saw a dead cockroach in the salad. Of course, I will tell him/her discreetly because I don’t want my friend to feel embarrassed by the situation.

39. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?

It depends on the situation. I’m the type of person who loves to observe and I tend to have a hard time to express myself. But if I get to notice that the situation is getting out of control, then that’s the time for me to step up.

40. Do you look like any celebrities?

Others say I look like Charice Pempengco…. HAHAHAHA

What I Learned From The Car Crash Incident

July 13, 2016

It’s been 13 hours since the time of the car crash incident. Til now, I still can’t believe that something like this happened to me. Let me reiterate the story:

Around 12:45am, thankfully, I was already inside our village when the accident happened. I was driving along my street and I suddenly fell asleep. Just in a snap of a finger, my car crashed on another car. That was the time I woke up and went back to my senses. I went down the car to check how big the damage was. While getting down the car, I felt like a jelly because I had no idea what to do, it was early morning for pete’s sake (everyone was asleep) and it was hard for me to look for a security guard within the area. Instead of hyperventilating, I had to remain calm and go to the security office which is located at the clubhouse. I reported the situation right away, had to wait for them at the scene where it happened and waited for my parents to wake up.

I really thought something major was going to happen to me. You know how in movies when they get to experience a major car crash? Well yes, that is what I experienced. From this experience, I was able to pick up a few pointers on what I learned.

  • I learned that you should value your life more. When the accident happened, I really thought something major would happen to me. When I hit the car that time, the airbag did not even open up. I guess my head hit the dashboard because my head still hurts. I am thankful that I did not get hurt and I was given a 2nd chance in life to begin with.

  • I learned that once you start feeling sleepy, stay in a safe place and make sure to energize yourself in order to drive properly. Even though you think you know your body well, when it comes to getting sleepy on the road, do everything you can to stay awake.

  • It’s okay to feel emotional. When I was in the police station to file a report, I actually started to be emotional. Of course I had to control myself because I did not want to cry in front of the police and the 3rd party. You have every right to take a rest or be with your friends to make yourself whole again

  • Car insurance works wonders! Because of the accident, we had to be the one to shoulder the expenses on the car of the 3rd party. Good thing we have car insurance! So, we don’t really need to shell out a lot of money.

  • Thanking the Lord. Before this incident happened, my faith towards God decreased. But because of this incident, I believe my faith in Him has increased again. Without the Lord, I could have been dead by now.

What other lessons can you share to other readers when experiencing a car crash? Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

How To Really Know Someone Part 3

June 27, 2016

21. If you were to change one thing about your physical appearance, what would it be?

If there is one thing that I would want to change about my physical appearance, it would have to be my actual body. Ever since I was a child, I was already a part of the heavy side. I tend to go into a yoyo effect. For once in my life, I would actually want to experience how it feels like to be thin.

22. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?

It would have to be my parents. They were with me in every step of the way and I know that they will guide me always (even though at times I tend to be hard headed).

23. What is your favorite kind of flower and why?

I don’t have a specific favorite kind of flower. All flowers to me are beautiful and smells good.

24. What do you think about the death penalty?

I am for the death penalty to be honest. There are a lot of crimes happening nowadays. But the death penalty should only be used if the crime committed is in grave condition. If it’s only a petty crime, a disciplinary action would be okay.

25. What is your ideal day?

My ideal day is waking up anytime you want to, having a cup of joe, reading new and interesting blogs, hanging out with your loved ones.

26. How thin/fat, small/large, tall/short are you compared to your peers?

I am chubby and the shortest among my peers. #sadlife

27. If you were a book, what would it be?

If I were a book, i guess it would have to be stories on travel, adventures and discovering oneself.

28. Have you ever seen a dead person before? How did you feel about it?

When we talk about funerals, then of course yes. But when the scene happens accidentally, I haven’t. And I don’t want to see one in the coming future.

29. Which is worse, failing or never trying?

Never trying. If you never try, you won’t know if this will be your path to success or just a setup for one to discover more about himself/herself.

30. Have you ever taken care of a sick person?

Every time my mom would get a fever, of course I take care of her. I make sure that everything she needs is taken care of.

What are your answers to the questions above? Feel free to share!
