Damires Hills : A Short Getaway in Janiuay, Iloilo

January 23, 2017

The main reason we went to Iloilo was to celebrate New Year with the relatives. The original plan was to go to a beach like Lakawon Island and do a day trip. But, we lacked time to prepare our beach trip. So, my aunt suggested to visit a nearby resort instead. This resort is Damires Hills.

Damires Hills is becoming quite known in Iloilo. Located at Janiuay, it’s a resort that offers nature and adrenaline activities. It’s a nice place to unwind and appreciate the beautiful view. There are a lot of activities that is perfect for kids and adults.

I appreciated this resort because I love nature and there were a lot of activities one can do. The only activities I was able to try were the Canopy Walk and The ATV. My younger cousin and her other cousins from the mom side had the chance to swim. Other activities include zipline, Kids Adventure Park and Team Building.

Upon our stay in this resort, we were able to rent a cottage. Inclusive of the daytime cottage are the food and drinks which was reasonable. The food was just right, nothing special with it. If you want to sleep in this resort, they offer overnight cottages.

Hotel Review: Greenleaf Hotel

June 13, 2016

Last May, I had the opportunity to go to General Santos. The reason why I had to go to General Santos was for an event called IECEP (Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines). The first IECEP event I attended was in Boracay. So, this makes it my 2nd time to attend this event. I decided to attend this event to help out in our other company and learn the ropes of the business. We were lucky enough to book a room in Greenleaf Hotel since this is where the event will take place as well.

Greenleaf Hotel is known to be a 4-star hotel in General Santos. The nice thing about Greenleaf Hotel is that it is right in front of SM. Although they say they are a 4-star hotel, I find it more to be a 5-star hotel due to its ambiance and service.

The room that was given to us was the Deluxe Room. You can expect full house amenities in Greenleaf Hotel. They have free wifi, fresh linens replaced daily, free shampoo and soap, an in-room safe, a laundry bag, vanity mirror, etc. You also have the option to get a king-sized bed or two single beds. I am thankful that the view I had was by the swimming pool.

There are different kinds of restaurants found in this hotel. For breakfast buffet, it is usually held in Mint Cafe. Their servings were the typical ones. I wouldn’t say that you would want to keep on looking for.

There’s Tea Leaf Restaurant for authentic Chinese cuisine. If you want to take some drinks, head over to Zanzibar. During our stay in General Santos, we didn’t get to have the time to eat in these restaurants since we were on a budget. Maybe the next time I visit General Santos, I will surely give these places a try.

The IECEP event was held in their ballroom area. The event of the organizer knew exactly what to do. The event was organized – sponsors lined up accordingly, speakers ready to share to the audience. Even though our company only had a small booth, a lot of people went to ours to listen more on what our latest product called VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detector Apparatus) can offer to the market. Aside from VESDA, we also had Chiyu (Access Control), HeiTel (CCTV Solution) and Structured Cabling.

I would have to applaud Greenleaf Hotel for a wonderful service. From the moment we checked-in in this hotel til check out, everything went smoothly. When we were checking in, even though some of us were not yet in the area, they allowed to give us a room in order to take a rest and the process of downpayment can be made when the payer arrives. When we checked out, it was kind of slow since there were a lot of guests during that day and it was hard to avail of a taxi to transfer us to another hotel.

Another plus factor for me was that the staffs knew exactly what they were going to do. Everytime they greet you, they will show a smile on your face to welcome your day with a bang! I would love it if people were that courteous and full of smile. It makes our life enjoyable and a happy one.

I can’t wait to experience Greenleaf Hotel again. This time, it will be for pleasure!

Hotel Review: Deparis Beach Resort

May 5, 2016

When it’s peak season in Boracay, rates would usually be double the price. In order for us not to cash out a lot of money, we agreed to get a hotel that is affordable and clean to stay in. Since we had a hard time to look for hotels, my aunt suggested to try to stay in Deparis Beach Resort since this was there they stayed during their company outing.

Deparis Beach Resort is owned by the Deparis family since 1981. This is located at Station 2, near the Don Vito restaurant. It is beach front and has this rustic vibe that is perfect for the beach setting. What I like about this hotel is that it is convenient for us to go anywhere. It’s just a walking distance to D’Mall and it’s easy for us to go the beach anytime. Second, the pictures of the rooms shown in the website are exactly the same when you see it in person. Since we were 4 in the group, they had a big room that can really accommodate 4 people. Third, they had good fruit shakes. Everytime we would hang out by the restaurant, we would usually order a pineapple or a mango shake. It really refreshes us due to the heat. Fourth, the room’s price. For 3 days and 2 nights, we paid 12k+. So divide it by 4 people, each of us paid 3k+ for the room. So, it’s not a bad deal after all.

What I didn’t like about this resort is their service. When we decided to get the room, I told them right away that we would be availing of their airport transfer service. A few days before our flight to Boracay, they even messaged me and assured me that they took note of our request for an airport transfer service. In this email, they told me to look for my name in Island Star Express once I arrive Kalibo airport. As we arrived Kalibo airport and went to Island Star Express, to my dismay, my name wasn’t there! It was such a hassle that the people in Island Star had to confirm with Deparis Beach Resort if we really availed of the service. An excuse like they forgot to put my name on the list can’t be taken lightly. When we checked out of the resort, that was the only time they told us how much per head would the airport transfer service be. When I booked our stay in this hotel, I emailed and asked them how much would the airport transfer service be. They did not answer me right away. Second, there were extra charges if we wanted to get extra towels, extra pillows, extra duvets etc. Third, their Wi-Fi was slow. But I didn’t mind since we were not in the hotel the whole time.

Honestly, I felt like I was being ripped off my money. In order to avail of more services in this resort, we had to keep on bringing out money. If you would be satisfied with a simple room, in a big group, won’t be getting extra amenities and have ways and means to travel cheap to Boracay, then this would be a good option. If you are the type of person who likes getting extra amenities for no cost and the hotel having a private van, then Deparis Beach Resort won’t be for you.

The Forest Lodge at Camp John Hay

February 16, 2016

When I was still a kid, it was a long drive to go to Baguio. Back then, it would take us 6-7hrs by land that was why I tend to get lazy to pack for Baguio even though I love going up there. Baguio and Tagaytay kind of have the same weather but it is much cooler up in Baguio. Due to advanced technology, the government decided to make another route to Baguio. This new route makes our travel time a lot easier and such a breeze. What better way to enjoy your stay in Baguio is through staying in The Forest Lodge.

The Forest Lodge is located inside Camp John Hay. There is another hotel located in Camp John Hay which is The Manor Hotel. The Manor Hotel is what I consider the “high-end” hotel. The Forest Lodge is more of the cheaper version but the service is splendid just like The Manor.

Upon entering the hotel, the lobby is spacious and there are a lot of couches where guests can stay. There is a fireplace that represents what a lodge should look like. It’s nice to chill with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine with you. To top it off, their WiFi is free plus it’s fast! During Christmas season, it was our 2nd stay in the hotel. They never failed to disappoint guests with their creativity to make the lobby full of Christmas spirit.

At your left side, this is where you can find the mini bar and the music room. What I love about their music room is that they were able to preserve the phonograph (commonly known as record player). Since I love anything vintage and music, it was truly a piece of heaven. It would be really nice to have your own record player at home and act like you went back to the 40’s.

At your right side, this is where the restaurant is, known as TWIST. What I like about Twist is that they offer affordable dishes and they get to fulfill our stomachs with yummy local dishes.

Upon entering the room, I actually felt like not getting out of the hotel anymore because the room was spacious plus the beds were very comfortable. Since the beds were comfortable, I tend to have a hard time to wake up and craved for more sleep due to the cold weather as well. Regular rooms in The Forest Lodge can accommodate 4 people. They don’t have any aircon in the room, instead a ceiling fan is placed. Basic amenities in the room can be found as well like cable TV, phone access, hair dryer, hot and cold shower, mini refrigerator.

The Forest Lodge is a piece of heaven with affordable rates. The staffs are accommodating and they make sure your stay will be enjoyable. All the basic amenities you need in the hotel are there plus the fast WiFi. The food in Twist is splendid with affordable rates as well. You can be assured that you will have a safe and peaceful stay.

If you have any plans to visit Baguio, I definitely would recommend The Forest Lodge. To know more about their rates, please visit their website which is If you do get to stay in this hotel, please do share your experiences as well! I would love to hear from you 🙂

3 Days & 2 Nights Stay in Boracay Regency

July 1, 2015

Everytime I get the opportunity to visit Boracay, it has always been spent with my family. What my family and I enjoy about Boracay are the pristine white sand and the amazing sunset you can see by the beach.

Our trip this time to Boracay was not for leisure. Rather, more for my parents work. They had an event with BITA (it’s an IT organization in Boracay) and they showcased our company’s solutions on safety (VESDA – Very Early Smoke Detector Apparatus and HeiTel – CCTV Solution) I decided to go with my parents to somewhat help them out and of course see Boracay beach as well. What better way to enjoy all these while staying in Boracay Regency.

Boracay Regency is located at Station 2 Beach Front. This hotel is very convenient because it is at the middle – close to D’Mall, close to the party life and close to the food establishments. The hotel’s theme really represents the ideal lifestyle of how one should be when in the beach – laidback and relaxed.

I would have to applaud the Henann Group of Resorts for a job well done in regards to accommodation. From the airport, we went to the waiting area exclusively for Henann Group of Resorts visitors. After a few minutes, a van picked us up to bring us to the port. When we arrived at the pier, I got suprised because they have their own speedboat to bring us to Boracay Island. They were very efficient/prompt and made sure our bags were well handled and safe.

When we checked in, another room was supposedly be given to us since the real check-in time is around 1 or 2pm. We arrived Boracay around 10am and we wanted to take a rest already. Good thing there was an available room for us to stay and take a short nap.  Our room was located at the 3rd floor and I believe the room that was given to us was a Deluxe Room. It consists of 1 king bed and 1 single bed.

You can find different amenities in this hotel. They have different kinds of function rooms depending on the occasion. For regular tourists, the most well known facility would have to be their pool. They have 3 different kinds of pool – East Wing, pool with a jacuzzi and pool with a mini bar.

Aside from their great accommodations and amenities, Henann Group of Resorts also placed different kinds of food establishments to cater one’s needs. If you feel like eating buffet style, they have this restaurant called Sea Breeze Cafe. This restaurant offers different kinds of meal every day so that visitors won’t get tired of seeing the same food everyday. This will make visitors want more unexpected food to be shown. They also have dancing chefs at night. Usually tourists would flock over this restaurant to watch and take videos of the dancing chefs.

If you want to experience the party style, they have Wave Lounge. I haven’t tried this party place because I prefer to go to these kinds of places with my friends. What I have noticed though is that they offer special rates to tourists at a certain time. Usually, it’s the buy 1 take 1 kind.

If you want fine dining, they have Christina’s. This is perfect for romantic spots and you just want to have a peace and quiet night. When you stay by the beach area, there are performances such as singing to feel the romantic vibe. When I go back to Boracay, I should give this a chance.
